First you must subscribe to the service by notifying your cell
phone service provider. Then tap Start->Settings->Connection->Connection->Add
a new modem connection
Choose any name for the connection, select Cellular Line (GPRS)
as the modem, tap next.
Enter the Access point name (this information should be given by
your service provider).
Leave the User name, Password, and the Domain fields blank unless
otherwise instructed by your service provider. Click Finish. Now
you should be able to use GPRS to connect to the internet. When
connected the signal status (next to the volume symbol) at the top

How do I disconnect GPRS? |
| |
Press and hold the End button for four seconds. |
| Q3. |
The signal strength of the phone fluctuates a lot. What
should I do? |
| |
The phone signal strength is heavily dependent on your location
and your service provider’s local equipments. SP230 refreshes the
signal strength every 10 seconds. Please notify your service provider
if necessary. |
| Q4. |
The audio quality of the phone calls is not satisfactory.
There are some occasional cracks in the other person’s voice. |
| |
Please send the SP230 back for repair. There was a hardware bug
in the earlier makes. After the bug was corrected, all the SP230s
produced by the factories thereafter do not have this problem. |

the phone function |

| Q8 |
With SP230 turned off, flight mode on, and the hold key
activated, the battery was drained after a day. How should I turn
off SP230 to conserve power in the battery? |
| |
This should not happen. The unit is faulty. Please have the pocket
pc returned to the factory. |
| Q9. |
How do I recover the password if I forgot it? |
| |
The password is controlled by the OS. Currently Microsoft has
not released any details about password recovery. The only way to
recover the password is through hard resetting. |
| Q10. |
Where is the Recording button? The hot key? The application
button? |
| |
Although the software on the pocket pc supports the application
button, there is no hardware support on the SP230. |
| Q11. |
The system still tells me that the backup battery is low
on charge after charging SP230 for hours. Is it time to replace
the backup battery? |
| |
To fully charge the device, it normally takes 8 hours if the batteries
are almost drained. The backup battery will not be able to recharge
if it is completely drained. If there are still problems please
return SP230 back to the factory for diagnostics |
| Q12. |
How do I make sure the data stored in SP230 is not lost
after the batteries are drained? |
| |
The memory allocated for SP230 contains 32 MB of NAND flash memory.
This memory is non-volatile. To save data into this memory, use
File Explorer to move data into the Built-in Storage directory.
Data stored in this directory will be preserved without battery
power. |
| Q13. |
What are the settings to configure internet connection
via ActiveSync? |
| |
If you want to connect to the internet using ActiveSync, you
have to setup the network card on the pocket pc.
Tap Start->Settings->Connection->Connection->Advanced->Network
Card->Default work setup->AsyncMac NDISWAN mini port.
The settings must be the same as your PC’s network settings. The
same IP and DNS information as the PC you will ActiveSync to must
be used. Then you are able to connect to the internet once SP230
is sync’ed with the PC. |
| Q14. |
What is the correct way to shutdown SP230? |
| |
Please turn off the phone function first then turn off the power
to prevent the system warning of abnormal shutdowns. |
| Q15. |
Sometimes the system warns of abnormal shutdown after
batter has been removed and replaced and requests me to press the
Action button. What is the Action button? |
| |
The Action button is activated by pressing the wheel on the side
of SP230. This button is similar to the right-click of a PC mouse.
This message is a only warning; no damage has been done to your
SP230. Please shutdown SP230 correctly to prevent this message. |
| Q16. |
Does SP230 support JAVA? |
| |
No. To view JAVA web contents and use JAVA applications you have
to purchase third-party JAVA JRE software. Microsoft Windows Mobile
2003 for PocketPC does not support JAVA natively. |
